Researchers from West Coast universities conducted a peer-reviewed study accepted to a leading AI workshop examining how 100 participants’ use of LLMs affected their essays on whether money leads to happiness. They found heavy LLM users (≥40% AI-generated) produced neutral responses 69% more often, used 50% fewer pronouns, and reported reduced creativity and voice, suggesting LLMs substantially alter meaning and personal style.
